I owned a Neoteric 1874 Hovertrek Deluxe Side by Side Seat for 4 (with carbureted 65 HP Hirth air cooled engine marinized for salt water). IT WAS DANGEROUS CRAFT THAT DID NOT PERFORM AS ADVERTISED.

1. The square box shape hull design is critically flawed - powering down while going over water causes the nose to dig into the water and THROW ALL PASSENGERS OUT OF THE CRAFT CAUSING SEVERE INJURIES TO THE PEOPLE AND DAMAGING THE CRAFT.

2. The 65hp Hirth engine was dangerously under-powered causing a list of critical failtures.

- couldn't actually carry 4 people.

- kept blowing pistons due to constant revving at its top end.

- was barely able to lift itself out of water once stopped and could not raise itself out of rough water.

- required extensive maintenance after each use.

- was extremely unreliable.

- could not navigate in rescue conditions of high winds or heavy seas.

- the high decibel level of the unenclosed engine makes it impossible to use without hearing protection which means you can not communicate while underway.

3. Support from the manufacturer was condescending and spotty. I was trained extensively on the craft yet when I pointed out critical issues the manufacturer wrongly claimed it was 'pilot error'.

4. It's impossible to find a mechanic willing to work on the craft. No boat, car or engine mechanic will touch it. The only choice is hiring an aircraft mechanic which is extremely expensive and difficult to find (especially one that will make house-calls).

5. The cost of the craft is ridiculously overpriced waste of money. It's a few hundred pounds of fiberglass and engine.

This is an experimental craft that like the first Brother Multi-function Printer, tries to do everything but does not do anything well. Don't make the same mistake I did, go with the proven vehicle purpose built for the application. Try an airboat, fishing boat, ATV.
