Operation Breakthrough, Inc. is a local 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization which was designated in 1964 to assist with alleviating povert the City and County of Durham, NC. Currently, Operation Breakthrough, Inc. operates the following programs: (1) Head Start, a pre-school program which serves 459 three and four year old children on a yearly basis. (2) Famil Empowerment Action to Self-Sufficiency (FEATS), a self-sufficiency project, enrolls 75 to 100 qualified families and participants into the program over a three-year period, assisting with goals setting, education, career development, and employment opportunities. (3) The Weatherization Assistance Program weatherizes over 100 homes on a yearly basis to ensur that homes of qualified homeowners or renters are energy efficient.
