The rich, comforting goodness of Molly Schlesinger's homemade chicken in the pot inspired her husband Joseph to open Schlesinger's Luncheonette in the 1920s. For more than forty years, the neighborhood gathered there to enjoy handmade Jewish deli specialties, sip chocolate egg creams at the lunch counter, and enjoy a sense of community. Today, in the heart of Center City, Schlesinger's Restaurant and Delicatessen continues the family legacy of good food and warm feelings-now owned by their grandson, Allan Domb. At Schlesinger's, we smoke our own meats in-house. We bake our own knishes (and breads, and pastries too). Everything we serve is made right here, by our own hands.
